Raffle Aid – Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 5 August 2025

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) set out the rules for using the Raffle Aid website (the “Site”), entering our prize draws, and making donations to Raffle Aid (“we”, “us” or “our”). By accessing the Site or participating in any draw run by us, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please stop using the Site immediately.

1. Who We Are

Raffle Aid is a non‑profit company limited by guarantee incorporated in England & Wales (Company No. 16087938).

• We have been granted an exemption under section 60 of the Companies Act 2006 that allows us to omit “Limited” from our name.

• Because we are limited by guarantee, we have no share capital and no dividends can ever be paid. Any surplus income is permanently reinvested to advance our social purposes.*

1.1 Charitable Status

We are not currently a registered charity because:

• we presently have fewer than three independent trustees, the minimum required for charity registration; and

• our objects are broader than exclusively charitable purposes under UK charity law—we aim to benefit the wider community, not just people in poverty.

We keep our legal form under review and may seek charitable status if this can be achieved without compromising our flexible mission.

1.2 Mission & Objects

Originally founded to address homelessness, our mission has expanded so that surplus funds can be applied flexibly across the wider community, including (but not limited to):

• initiatives to prevent and relieve homelessness or insecure housing;

• projects that create affordable, sustainable housing;

• programmes that promote healthy, active lifestyles and mental wellbeing;

• community development, education, and environmental projects that improve quality of life for ordinary people as well as those in acute need.

2. Prize Draws & Donations

2.1 Nature of Our Draws

Each draw offers both a paid‑entry route (£2 per entry via the Site) and a completely free entry route by post, as permitted under sections 14 & 58 of the Gambling Act 2005. Because a free route is always available, our draws are categorised as “prize competitions” and are therefore exempt from regulation by the Gambling Commission.

You must still be 18 years or older and resident in Great Britain to participate.

2.2 Use of Proceeds

After deduction of reasonable operating costs and lawful prize expenses, 100 % of net proceeds are applied to furthering the mission set out in section 1.2.

2.3 Gift Aid

Because (a) payments for entries are participation fees in a prize competition and (b) Raffle Aid is not presently a registered charity, Gift Aid cannot be claimed on entries or on standalone donations at this time. If and when we obtain charitable status, we will update these Terms accordingly.

2.4 Refunds

All entries and donations are non‑refundable unless we have made an administrative error or are otherwise required by law.

3. Use of the Site

When using the Site you agree that you will:

use it only for lawful, non‑commercial purposes;

not attempt unauthorised access to our systems or data;

not submit content that is defamatory, obscene, discriminatory or otherwise unlawful;

respect our intellectual‑property rights (see section 4 below).

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any breach of these Terms.

4. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, all content on the Site—including text, graphics, videos, logos and trademarks—belongs to Raffle Aid. You may share our materials for non‑commercial, awareness‑raising purposes provided you credit Raffle Aid and do not alter the meaning.

5. Liability & Disclaimer

The Site and its content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. While we strive for accuracy, we make no guarantees that the Site will be error‑free or uninterrupted. To the maximum extent permitted by law we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Site, our draws or our services.

6. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England & Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect operational or legal changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will be amended accordingly. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
